You can notice in the video below, when any projectile is thrown from the ground level then for angle of projection of 45°, the range is maximum. Also one can easily notice that for angle of projections being complementary pair (e.g.15° & 75°pair, 30° & 60° pair etc.) the range of the projectile remains same.
One should also appreciate and notice an important fact of projectile motion under the influence of gravitational field (ball thrown in air making some angle etc) that the x-component of velocity remains unchanged as there is no component of acceleration acting on it, while the y-component of velocity first decreases during the upward flight of the motion and then increases during the downward flight of the motion. This fact is documented wonderfully in the video below, both by the vector diagram as well as by the graphs.
